Overview
iCanvas is a Chicago-based e-commerce company specializing in high-quality giclée canvas prints. Founded in 2006 out of a garage printing operation, iCanvas grew into one of the leading online destinations for canvas wall art — offering a curated catalog spanning thousands of artists and styles, produced and fulfilled in-house.
What sets iCanvas apart is its dual identity as both a retailer and a production house. Every print is made to order, with an emphasis on craftsmanship, color accuracy, and quality control from file to finished product — making it a uniquely production-minded environment from the ground up.
The Challenge
iCanvas's catalog spans thousands of licensed art prints across multiple frame dimensions — and every product needed lifestyle imagery that accurately placed each piece into a real-world home environment. Doing that at scale, across multiple resell platforms, created a distinct set of production demands:
Each platform — Groupon, HauteLook, JackThreads, Wayfair — had its own image specs and delivery requirements
Licensed artwork had to be accurately fitted and color-matched across every frame dimension option
Volume was constant, and the catalog was always growing
A manual workflow wasn't sustainable — Adobe Action Scripts were introduced to automate and scale production
The Opportunity
To build a repeatable, automated image production pipeline that could keep pace with a growing catalog — consistently, and at scale.
My Role
As a Graphic Designer at iCanvas, I worked across both the creative and production sides of the business — supporting the catalog, retail partnerships, and brand marketing simultaneously.
My responsibilities included:
Producing lifestyle and in-situ imagery for online retail partners compositing licensed artwork into home decor photography across multiple frame dimensions
Mastering print files to exact spec across a wide range of sizes and output requirements
Designing marketing materials spanning brochures, flyers, web, and email asset production
Conducting in-house product and lifestyle photography, including studio shoots of finished canvas pieces
Concepting and producing original themed art collections
